Introducing the DAFM Synth Blaster YMF262 (OPL3) - a sound synthesizer that uses Frequency Modulation (FM) to produce unique sounds reminiscent of the 80s and 90s. This synthesizer features the YMF262 Yamaha chip, which was widely used in many sound cards, including the popular Sound Blaster Pro 2 and Sound Blaster 16 ASP. We wanted to create a synthesizer that would appeal to both retro gamers and music makers who are interested in experimenting with sound. The Blaster comes loaded with 128 General Midi 4-OP instruments that were designed by The Fat Man and used in iconic 90s PC video games such as Doom, Descent, Tyrian, and Heretic, among others. These presets can be found in Bank 0, while Bank 1 can be used to load up to 128 presets from the SD Card. It has 2 rotary encoders and a tactile keyboard for trying different patches, and presets can be saved in RAM or on an SD card. Stereo sound output, MIDI input, and powered via USB. The perfect mix for music makers and retro gamers alike.
